Wedding Photos
Okay,
we've put in a little camera trickery for this part. Here's the deal: in order
to maximize the time of those present, including that of the photographer, we
decided to do a batch of pictures before the wedding actually took place.
Because Mike and Kyra had agreed not to see each other on the morning of the
wedding up until the bedekken, it meant making sure that neither Mike nor
Kyra were in the sanctuary at the same time! It also meant that the photographer
could take his time photographing everyone without feeling like he was in the
way of the "processional;" people could stand still for their pictures rather
than walk down.
That's a pretty long-winded explanation as to
why Mike is not wearing his kittel in this picture. Standing along Mike
are his parents, and Hal and Elissa.
This
is a similar show with Kyra and her parents. Rick and Betsy. You can tell this
was taken before the ceremony, because during the actual walk down the aisle,
Kyra and her mother were giggling the whole way.
Here's
the first bunch of people who actually came down in the real processional -- the
chuppah holders (along with the chuppah). The chuppah is
tre traditional wedding canopy; this one was furnished from four poles and
Rick's (Kyra's dad's) talit (prayer shawl). Holding the chuppah (from
left to right) are first cousins Maita Schuster, Rachel Jay, Elizabeth Frankel-Kost
and Sarah Schuster.
Okay...
these were taken during the ceremony itself! This is a wide angle view of the
sanctuary, with the chuppah and Mike and Kyra at center. You can see the
very high ceiling with the ark and its light behind us (which looks quite
onion-like, but beautiful nonetheless). We're facing forward towards Rabbis Ed
Farber and Rob Scheinberg, who would be visible if we were not there.
Here's
another chuppah shot with Mike and Kyra at center. Rabbi Farber is
visible as the happy couple faces each other, trying to make each other giggle.
After
the ceremony was finished, and after Mike steped on the glass to the excited
crowd's screams of "MAZEL TOV!" we see Kyra and Mike walking back down the aisle
as the first ones to participate in the recessional. Mike and Kyra then went to
observe yichud, the ceremonial time when the bride and groom are together
for the first time after the wedding alone. (Sorry, no pictures available...)
